🖼️ Artwork Submission Guidelines
Version 2.0 | Last Updated: 2025 July 25
PRINTUNING® — Hungary | Serving EU & UK

To guarantee the best print quality and avoid production delays, all artwork submitted to PRINTUNING must follow the standards below. These guidelines protect both you as the customer and us as your print partner — ensuring fast, accurate, and high-quality results.
By uploading a design, you agree that you have read and accepted these terms.

📌 This document is reviewed every 6 months or sooner if changes in law, platform policy, or internal procedures require updates. We reserve the right to revise these guidelines at any time.

1. ✅ Accepted File Formats & Setup
To ensure sharp, scalable, print-ready artwork, we strongly recommend vector files. These can be resized without any quality loss and are ideal for all custom printed products.

Accepted formats:
✅ PDF, EPS, AI (Adobe Illustrator) — best for professional-quality artwork
✅ PNG — accepted only if it's 300 DPI and includes transparent background
❌ JPG, BMP, GIF, or screenshots are not acceptable

File setup checklist:
✔ Resolution: 300 DPI (dots per inch) minimum
✔ Color mode: CMYK
✔ Bleed: 3 mm on all edges
✔ Safe zone: Keep text/logos at least 5 mm from edges
✔ Text: Converted to outlines or curves (more below)
✔ No compression artifacts — use maximum quality export settings

💡 Tip: If you use Canva or Kittl, always download the final version as PDF (Print) and double-check resolution before uploading.

2. 🔤 Text & Fonts – Avoid Broken Layouts
Text issues are one of the most common causes of misprints. Fonts that exist on your device may not exist on ours. To avoid this:
✅ Convert all text to outlines (also called "curves") before exporting
→ This turns your text into graphic shapes so nothing changes
If you're not sure how, search “Convert text to outlines in [your design software]”
❌ Do not rely on font embedding unless you're experienced

PRINTUNING is not responsible for font issues or text changes caused by incorrect file setup.

3. 📸 Image Resolution – Sharp vs. Pixelated

Raster images (PNG, PSD, JPG) must be high resolution:
Minimum Requirement: 300DPI
Suggested Setup: 4500 x 5400 pixels for apparel

Low-res images (72 DPI) may look acceptable on screen but will print blurry or jagged. Always zoom in to 100% on your file — if it looks pixelated, it will print pixelated.

💡 Tip: Use vector images for logos or text, and only use high-res images for photo-style graphics.

4. 🎨 Color Mode – RGB vs. CMYK
Your screen shows colors in RGB (light-based), but printers use CMYK (ink-based). This means:
CMYK is required to avoid unexpected color shifts
Bright RGB colors (like neon green, electric blue) will dull down in CMYK
We automatically convert RGB to CMYK if needed — but we’re not responsible for color differences due to that conversion.

💡 Always preview your colors in CMYK mode inside your design software.

5. 🖼️ Transparency & Backgrounds
If your design has a transparent background or partial transparency:
✅ Submit as PNG, AI, PDF, or PSD
✅ What’s transparent will print as transparent — no background is added
❌ Do not submit flattened JPGs for transparent designs

If you want a specific color background (e.g. black behind white text), add it manually in your file.

6. 📐 Bleed, Margins & Safe Zones
This prevents cut-off artwork during trimming or placement.
✔ Add 3 mm bleed on all edges
✔ Keep all important elements 5 mm inside the safe zone
❌ Avoid putting text or logos too close to edges

If this isn’t followed, you risk parts of your design being cut off or misaligned.

7. 💾 File Size & Upload Tips
Avoid huge files that slow down uploads (aim for 10–50 MB range)
Avoid aggressive compression — it causes grainy, fuzzy prints
Always check clarity at 100% zoom

8. 🛠️ What We Adjust (and What We Don’t)
We always check:
✅ Print format (resolution, file type, layout dimensions)

But we do not check:
❌ Spelling, grammar, or artistic content
❌ Legal ownership of your design
❌ Color choices, font size, or mockup positioning

We may:
✔ Resize or slightly adjust your layout for better print alignment
✔ Contact you if your file is too poor to print
✔ Offer professional design recreation for a fee, with your approval

9. 🧠 AI-Generated Designs (Midjourney, DALL·E, etc.)
We accept AI-generated designs, but:
You are 100% responsible for checking the license of the platform or tool
Some AI platforms do not allow commercial use
You confirm you have permission by submitting the file

***PRINTUNING cannot verify the origin or legality of AI artwork and is not responsible for any copyright violations.

Our customization tool includes a mockup preview. This is your chance to visually confirm:
a.  Placement
b.  Scaling
c.  Color combinations
d.  Overall appearance

Once the order is placed, we proceed to production based on what you approved.

11. 📤 Design Submission & File Retention
